DC Zunheboto visits bamboo craft workshop

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 18: Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo visited the bamboo workshop initiated and sponsored by 32nd Assam Rifles on Monday.
In a brief interaction with the trainees, the DC talked about the good quality of bamboos we naturally have, and the significance of the usages of bamboos.
He shared that with the world now stressing so much on biodegradability of commonly used materials, bamboo crafts could be the next big thing, and would definitely be a source of livelihood for those who have the will to produce the crafts with sincerity and hard work.
He also thanked and appreciated the Assam Rifles for providing a platform to the participants to showcase their talents, skills and develop a sense of dignity of labour.
According to Major Rahul Choudhary of the 32nd Assam Rifles, the main aim of the programme was to reach out to the youths of the district, who stayed idle, and provide them with a platform of livelihood by re-fabricating the talent they already posses.
The workshop which began on January 11, and scheduled to end on January 23, has a total of 51 participants under instructors, Ghühevi Khuju and Henivi Aye.
