Balidan Diwas observed in Kohima

Dimapur, August 25: Balidan Diwas (Martyrs Day) in memory of martyr Saheed Major Durga Malla & Martyr Saheed Capt. Neikezhakuo Kenguruse and other martyrs was organized by the Gorkha Public Panchayat, Kohima in association with the Gorkha NGO’s at Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall, Chandmari, Kohima on August 25.
The programme began with deep prajwalan and paying rich floral tribute to the gallant heroes by Gorkha leaders, GB and the Gorkha Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen who gave supreme sacrifice for the cause of the Nation.
While speaking on the occasion, Santu Thapa, President, Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) highlighted on the significance of Balidan Diwas, emphasizing on the supreme sacrifice made by Saheed Major Durga Malla, a Gorkha soldier in the freedom movement of India and also sacrifice made by Saheed Capt. Neikezhakuo Kenguruse in Kargil war.
Gayatri Devi, Advisor, Gorkha Public Panc hayat Kohima (GPPK) also spoke on the occasion and stressed on the sacrifice made by the families of the martyrs especially the wives,
Patriotic song was presented by the members of Vivela Club, Kohima, while the function was presided by Suresh Kumar Lama, General Secretary, GPPK. (Page News Service)
