AYO pushes for 14 days mandatory institutional quarantine for all returnees

Dimapur, May 15: The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) has urged the Government of Nagaland to ensure that all returnees to Nagaland be made to undergo mandatory 14 days institutional quarantine and no relaxation be made.
The AYO was reacting to reports that the State Government is likely to relax guidelines for quarantine of travelers returning to the State, and that for those returning from Green and Orange Zones there will be only three days institutional quarantine followed by 14 days home quarantine.
This decision if taken by the Government, the AYO observed, is likely to put the State populace at greater risk.
“The AYO finds this extremely distressing and would like to point out that this decision is also not as per the guidelines of the central government,” it said in a press release, while urging the Government to make all necessary efforts and be more stringent rather than relaxing the procedures.
The AYO also asked the Government to ensure that its quarantine facilities in all district headquarters are functional and that travelers destined for the districts may be able to undergo institutional quarantine in their home districts. This, AYO said, will ease the physical and mental stress of the travelers and also not overwhelm the frontline workers and healthcare facilities in Dimapur and Kohima.
The AYO also requested all village/colony/ward panchayats to be vigilant for persons who have returned from outside the State and have not undergone the necessary screening and quarantine. If any such case arises, the matter may be immediately reported to the Government help-lines (Kohima Helpline- 8575228686 and Dimapur Control Room – 6009920884).
