Awareness program on Blood Donation and Blood Donation Camp held

Dimapur, October 28: An “Awareness Program on Blood Donation and Blood Donation Camp” was held at St. Joseph University Chumoukedima which was organised by the Department of Social Work in collaboration with NSS and CIHSR, on the theme, “Together to Care for Health”.
Dr. Nounchetuo Miachieo, MD Consultant Pathologist CIHSR was the resource person for the awareness programme. Around two hundred students attended the awareness programme. During the program, Dr. Miachieo shared about the historical background of blood donation and its importance. He also highlighted the different types of blood donors, namely voluntary blood donors, replacement donors and professional donors.
He encouraged the attendees to go voluntary blood donor as it will help people in emergency. Dr. Miachieo emphasised on the process, benefits and safety measured of blood donation as well as the blood Center at CIHSR.
The awareness program came to and with the vote of thanks from VikheliYthopmi, which was followed by Blood Donation Camp.
There were 66 voluntary donors from the students of St. Joseph University, Chumoukedima. Two Doctors and around 6 staff from CIHSR took the initiative for the donation process.
