Awareness on women & girl child rights held at Longleng

Dimapur, February 21: The Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) in collaboration with District Task Force (DTF) BBBP Longleng conducted a felicitation and an awareness programme on women & girl child rights on February 19&20 at Yaongyimchen & Yachem village, Longleng with a vision to create an environment in which women realized their full potential and to encourage the spirit of voluntary community service and gender equality among the people.
District coordinator Tutinungla Phom gave a brief note on issues and schemes related to women and girl child. She encouraged the women, especially pregnant women and lactating mothers, to avail the benefits meant for them. Importance on the health of a mother & girl child education was also discussed.
She gave Information on various women schemes and offices such as One Stop Centre, Women Helpline 181 (Police, hospital, ambulance services, legal aid, protection officer, video conferencing); antenatal check-up for pregnant women (ANC); Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY); Janani Surakshaj Yojana (JSY); Sukhanya Samriddhi Account and Mahila Shakti Kendra.
Phungla Phom, WWO, MSK Longleng felicitated a girl child who had outstanding achievement in academic as well as in co-curricular activities, and also a single mother who raised 7 children – 5 sons & 2 daughters who are all educated and well settled. They were given gift hampers along with certificates.
A total of 350 people attended the programme.
