Awareness on violence against women at Longleng, Tuensang

Dimapur, October 12: Longleng district administration in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK-DLCW) & Sakhi-One Stop Center Longleng organized awareness programme on violence against women in commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 at Badminton Indoor Stadium Longleng.
DC Longleng, M Shayung Phom, NCS spoke on common violence prevailing in the State which Naga society is trying to ignore. He talked about cases where women are mistreated for several reasons. He added that violence against women is one evil practice in our society, and encouraged women to be brave and fight for their rights and sensitize women about different helpline centres available in Nagaland.
The programme was chaired by C. Henchem Phom, Administrator OSC, keynote address was given by Robin SDO(C).
Tuensang: Tuensang District Sakhi-One Stop Centre & Mahila Shakti Kendra organized a district level speech, essay and painting competition on the theme ‘Violence against women and child’ as a part of awareness to the student community in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Tonen Chang, District coordinator, PMMVY spoke on the theme ‘Violence against women and child.’
In extempore speech competition, Tangsoi of Government HSS came the 1st, Kushe Shiu from St John HSS and Tenya of GHSS were 2nd and 3rd respectively. In essay competition, Longvila from St. John HSS was declared winner, Thronglila and Longkonglepla were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the drawing category, Donan Snagba of St John HSS was declared the winner and Waellen Senti and Simon secured 2nd and 3rd respectively.
