It looks like Marvel’s heroes are going to take a long time to defeat Thanos in the 4th installment of the Avengers franchise. Co-director Joe Russo has confirmed that the highly anticipated MCU movie could be its longest ever, as of now.
“The running time on Avengers 4 is currently sitting right at three hours. We’ll see if that holds”, Russo said when he was live on Instagram to promote his new bar in Los Angeles. He also mentioned that they were just about scratching the surface on the VFX shots and were halfway through in the editing process. “There are more than 3,000 VFX shots in the movie. Those require a lot of time and thought and energy and effort, and we’re very early in the phase of getting VFX done”, he added.
Joe Russo, who is directing the film along with his brother Anthony, did not reveal the name of the film during the Instagram live but he did promise that it would live up to fans’ expectations and that the stakes of the film were “the highest of any of the films to date, without question”.
Avengers 4 has a lot to live up to as Infinity War, which has a running time of 2 hours 40 minutes, was the highest grossing Marvel movie ever and collected over 2 billion dollars worldwide.
Avengers 4 releases on May 3, 2019.
