Attestation parade held at ARTC&S

Dimapur, July 4: 223 recruits including 59 Mahila recruits were inducted into the Assam Rifles at an attestation parade held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Sukhovi on July 4. Brig Gurjap Singh, Commandant, Assam Rifles Training Centre and School reviewed the parade, which was witnessed by a large number of people including parents of the recruits.
Addressing the recruits, the commandant highlighted the antecedents of the Assam Rifles as the oldest para military force of the country and its diversified role which is all encompassing in the present day environment, ranging from security to providing welfare and developmental assistance to the civil population. He stated that North East is a strategic area and its security is of paramount importance. He complimented commanding officers of training battalions and instructors for imparting value based training to the recruits for their future as trained soldiers of the nation.
The commandant also presented awards to the passing out recruits for their outstanding performance during training. Rfn Twinkle Chakma was awarded the medal for being the Best All Round Recruit. Rfn Roshan Dhurve, Rfn Dimple Rana, Rfn Vikash Kumar and Rfn M Sunila Devi were awarded the medal for being best in firing. Rfn Shashi Kumar, Rfn D M Hokip, Rfn T H Valte and Rfn Emica Marry Pasi were awarded the medal for being best in drill while Rfn Aanand Kumar, Rfn Vijay, Rfn Kartik R, and Rfn Sarojini Lakra were awarded the medal for being best in physical training.
