ATMA Dimapur Niuland block conducts Kishan Ghosthi


Dimapur, June 12: ATMA Dimapur Niuland Block conducted Kisan Ghosthi at Ghotovi village on June 7 where resource persons Kimiyekato, WDT, Department of Land Resources, Dr. Lawrence Kithan, Scientist, (Agronomy) and Kavi Sumi, Scientist (Pathology), both from AICRP-SASRD, NU, Medziphema highlighted on their policies, schemes and activities for the benefit of farmers. During the programme chaired by Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, Niuland Block a total of 30 participnats, mostly women farmers were present.
Various queries were put up by the farmers during interaction with the officials and scientist based on scope and methods of coffee plantations, intercropping of pigeonpea, arecanut with coffee plants, importance of spacing between plants which gives proper yield and better plant growth, pests and diseases management in Kharif crops like jhum paddy, maize and soyabean.
Field visit was conducted by the officials at the coffee and jhum paddy field where the Resource persons appreciated the farmer’s commitment in jhum practice and stated that convergence between the different departments is very important as it avoids duplication of work, is more reliable and makes easy for the extension functionaries to identify and help the genuine farmers directly.
