Asuto town celebrates Golden Jubilee

Dimapur, February 24: Asuto town under Aghunato administrative circle, celebrated Golden Jubilee on the theme ‘Lakhi shino thuwuni’ (Growth in unison) at the EAC office compound on February 21.
Minister Agriculture and Cooperation, G. Kaito Aye speaking on the occasion extended jubilee greetings and said that jubilee is a time to be thankful for the manifold blessings, reliving the wonderful memories of the years that went by and also a time to pray for a blessed future.
He appealed to the gathering especially the leaders and people of the area, to be cooperative towards Government and extend their earnest efforts to bring about changes in the area. He also expressed happiness to be a part of the jubilee celebration and called upon the people irrespective of status to work as one for the welfare of the people.
Advisor, Tourism, Art and Culture, Khehovi Yepthomi acknowledged the Minister and the Advisors for being part of the celebration and also expressed gratitude to the land owners who donated their ancestral land to establishment Asuto town 50 years back.
Advisor, Food and Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection and Taxes, Pukhayi Sumi delivering a short message highlighted the evolvement of Asuto town (EAC headquarter) since its inception and aims to develop the town further in the near future. He informed that the monthly DPDB meeting for the month of March 2020 will be held at Asuto town.
Earlier, the celebration began with the unveiling of the jubilee monolith and souvenir released by the special guest. Advisor Pukhayi Sumi, Advisor Khehovi Yepthomi, Deputy Commissioner Peter Lichamo, Superintendent of Police Uniel Kichu, President Sumi Hoho Hekushe Shikhu and President NDPP Khehoshe Yepthomi graced the program. Other highlights of the jubilee included cultural items, indigenous songs etc.
