ASU Shillong to celebrate Golden Jubilee on April 14


Dimapur, April 3: The Angami Students’ Union Shillong, which was formed in 1968 is all set to celebrate its Golden Jubilee on April 14 at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong on the theme “Rise and Lead”. The ASUS is one of the oldest student bodies functioning under the umbrella of Naga Students’ Union Shillong and the wider apex body of Angami Students’ Union Kohima.
Zhaleo Rio, Deputy Speaker, Government of Nagaland and R G Lyngdoh, former Vice Chancellor, Martin Christian University Shillong, have consented to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively.
The highlights of the celebration include performances by the Naga legendary singer Methaneilie Jutakhrie, as well as performances by alumni Diethozo Thakro, Thejavor Suokhrie and many more.
The celebration will include dignitaries and alumni from Nagaland as well as Meghalaya.
It was recalled that some section of the Angamis had already started their studies way back in the 1950s which later came under a union in 1968 with Kevisiezolie Suohu as its first President with a fair objective of creating better understanding and a greater sense of togetherness among the Angami community and to help each other in times of need. Today, ASUS is proud to have many of its former members as well-established and dignified men and women of the society, running the government and engaged in public administrative offices.
Eno. Lhouvirielie Üsou, the Convenor of the Organising Committee, on behalf of the union has invited all the alumni to be a part of this grand celebration.
