Assault on doctor: Dr Mongshithung & his family have not signed any agreement, says Medical Fraternity

doctor assault

Dimapur, April 22: Three medical associations of the state today clarified that Dr Mongshithung Murry and his family have not signed any agreement with any organization.
The conglomerate body of the Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB), Indian Medical Association (IMA) Nagaland State Branch and Nagaland Ayush Doctors Association (NADA) informed the medical fraternity and the general public that the issue is beyond the individual level and has been taken as the organizational issue, which is to be noted by all individuals and authorities alike.
The Association stated that the brutal acts of Nagaland police upon the doctors firstly on April 3 in Dimapur and again on April 17 in Wokha are beyond tolerance in a civilized world and the medical fraternity cannot and would not take the unfair treatment metered out to any of the members silently.
“We have called for punitive actions to be taken upon the erring personnel by the higher-ups, but till now, the state government seems to be working in favour of the culprits and trying to hush-up the matter at all levels,” the Association said in a rejoinder to the statement of IGP Nagaland.
Stating that they are aware of the pressure exerted on Dr Mongshithung and his family members to sign the settlement letter from some corners, the Association said they find no justification on the silence of the government of the day on these issues.
“We are waiting for the response of the state government as assured by the Home Commissioner to respond. If any individual or organization or authority further pressurizes the victim Doctor, the same shall be vocally dealt with by the Associations,” they stated.
The Association further reiterated their stand that if the state government fails to deliver a prompt and befitting action upon all the erring police personnel, regardless of rank or file, they would will resort to the next course of action in a democratic manner for which the state government will be held solely responsible.
They also called upon all Dental surgeons, MBBS Doctors and AYUSH Doctors to be ready for any appropriate action plans to be followed.
The Association also said that they have come across the WhatsApp circulated press release document of compromise issued by Wokha, DC and added that the above clarification covers the purported press release of the Wokha DC as well. (Page News Service)
