Dimapur, May 11: The motorcycle rally on Drug & HIV/AIDS Free Nagaland undertaken by Assam Rifles Battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) concluded with flagging in ceremony held at Kohima & Tuensang today.
The Motorcycle rally was flagged in at Assam Rifles Helipad ground at 12.30 hours by Major General Sanjay Gupta, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North). It was followed by a narration of experiences during the rally by the team leader and other members and felicitation of bikers.
The IGAR (North) also thanked the Local bikers club association and the people of Nagaland for their support and joining hands with Assam Rifles in this noble cause. The rally has showcased the harbinger of change and determination of Naga youth to eradicate the menace of drugs & HIV/AIDS & make Nagaland a Drug & HIV/AIDS free state.
The bikers covered a distance of 563 Kms from Kohima – Jessami – Kiphire – Zunheboto – Wokha and back to Kohima. Earlier during the day the rally team moved from Wokha to Kohima, wherein they were received by local bikers at IG stadium and escorted in the town. The rally went through the town spreading the massage of Drug & AIDS/HIV free Nagaland and finally culminated at Assam Rifles Helipad ground.
The rally conducted from May 5 to 11 received overwhelming response across the state and was welcomed by local populace especially the youth. People joined hands with Assam Rifles and participated in numerous events to include, awareness lecture, sports, medical camps, drawing/ poster making competitions, music festival etc.
The bike rally from Tuensang to Mokokchung also culminated in Tuensang today and flagged in by Col Abdul Hamid Khan, officiating Commander HQs 7 Sector Assam Rifles. The rally covered a distance of 200 Km with stops at Longkhim and Chare. Second leg of the rally from Dimapur to Jalukie – Peren had culminated on May 8 at Dimapur. (Page News Service)
