Around one lakh families enrolled in Govt health assurance scheme: Manipur CM N Biren Singh

Imphal, October 28: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that around one lakh families have been enrolled under Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) so far, a health assurance scheme launched by the state government.
The CMHT was launched in January this year under which families in Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC), poor, disabled and widows, who are a permanent resident of Manipur, are availed with free treatment in empanelled hospitals including private ones.
The scheme provides a cover of up to Rs 2 lakh per eligible family identified from the SECC in the treatment of seven critical ailments including cardiovascular diseases, kidney ailments, neurological conditions, liver ailments, cancer, neonatal diseases and burns.
Speaking as the chief guest at a function organised at Classic Hotel to celebrate the successful implementation of CMHT at SKY Hospital, Imphal, he said that CMHT was an outcome of his constant interactions with different sections of the people during his 15 years of public life.
“It has been my dream to introduce a scheme which would help needy people to receive quality medical treatment. It took around six months to conceive the scheme,” said the CM.
Sky Hospital is one of the first empanelled private hospitals under the scheme; altogether 36 heart patients had been given treatment under the scheme in the private hospital till date.
Manipur Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar also announced that Flying Doctors (air ambulance service) would become a reality soon. Stating that construction of helipads in different districts for the project would begin soon, the minister informed that DoNER Ministry had agreed to provide some financial assistance for the construction of helipads.
