
Dimapur, November 30: The opening ceremony of Assam Rifles Sentinel’s North East Football Tournament was held today at No 2 Training Battalion of Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, 3rd Mile, Dimapur.
Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton was the chief guest o fthe event. Ten teams are participating in the event. Four of the top teams will then move to Shillong to take part in the semi finals and finals which will be conducted by HQ DGAR.
The tournament aims at identifying potential talent from the North Eastern region and to foster a sense of Sportsmanship and Friendship amongst the states as well as to promote peace and tranquillity in the region.
The first match of the tournament was held between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam Rifles teams. Assam Rifles team emerged the victors (6-0).
