Dimapur, February 7: Shamatore Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted in controlling major fire at High School sector of Noklak Town on February 6.
An AR release said Assam Rifles troops from Noklak Post on receiving information of fire immediately sprung into action and along with local citizens and Noklak police prevented the raging fire from spreading into built up area. Large quantity of firefighting equipment from the post was utilized in dowsing the fire, it said.
Due to timely action no injury or loss of life and property took place despite strong winds accelerating the fire, the release informed.
