AR apprehends Rohingya immigrant at Cachar


Dimapur, July 21: Based on a specific input, 37 Assam Rifles along with Police apprehended a Rohingya Muslim, resident of Rakhini Myanmar was arrested on July 19 from Bagadhar village, Silchar, Cachar, Assam. The suspect had travelled to Bangladesh and was subsequently taken to Saudi Arabia. There he spent three months and later moved to Pakistan with the help of conduits. He stayed in Pak for approximately three months. He returned to Cox Bazar Area, Bangladesh and prepared fake documents to infiltrate into India via Hasimganj at Karimganj – Bangladesh Border.
According to Assam Rifles, he bought a house in Lamba basti Bhaskandi in Cachar district
Reportedly, people using several vehicles from Tripura and Bihar used to visit him in Bhaskandi. When his neighbours became suspicious about him and enquired about his activities, he sold his land and shifted to Haflong.
Meanwhile, he also visited Kashmir for four months. Two years ago he came to Silchar where he was staying at his wife’s house in Bagadhar, part IV, PS Sadar, Silchar, Cachar Dist, Assam.
During house search, a number of forged documents with multiple identities were recovered and the individual also accepted that he used these false documents for NRC Registration. Multiple Bank account details with different PAN Card number have also been recovered.
The methodology to travel to various countries without valid passport is being investigated. The purchase of land property & making forged multiple documents are being investigated.
The individual does not have any formal education but dairies with suspicious coded entries in English language which includes mention of words like “messenger” and “enemy” have been recovered.
The AR suspects that the individual is linked with ISI and Arakan Rohingya Salvation Organisation. Investigation into his activities is under process by Silchar police. (Page News Service)
