
Kohima, June 11: With a view to encourage children of taxi drivers to give their best towards attaining education, the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Headquarters Kohima today honoured 31 children, including three toppers of HSLC and HSSLC examination 2022.
Of the 31, 17 are from HSLC and 14 from HSSLC.
The three toppers are Tokabo Katty s/o Shekiho Katty, Kohima Top 5 in HSSLC (Arts) while Keweko Mero s/o Wekhape Mero, Top 17 and Tsuwanaro Jamir, d/o Alemkika Top 20 in HSLC.
The toppers were honoured with Rs 10,000 each and citation while the rest who secured first divisions received Rs 5,000 each with citation.
Speaking during the felicitation programme, ANTA president Dziesevituo Solo congratulated the ANTA members for the success of their children while also conveying best wishes to the successful students in their future endeavours.
He appreciated the taxi drivers saying that despite many of them being illiterate, they have been toiling hard to provide quality education to their children.
He also called upon the successful students to have respect for others and show good attitude while also being God fearing in pursuing education and being successful in life.
ANTA general secretary Meyieho Hibo informed that ANTA Hq Kohima has extended the award to the meritorious children of its members for the first time. He also said that ANTA would be keeping track of their future performance.
Calling upon the children to always remember the hard effort of their parents, he asked them to pay back their parents by bringing laurels and achieving greater heights.
Chaired by ANTA joint secretary Aphrelie Suokhrie the felicitation of toppers and first division students commenced with prayer by Pastor of Khonoma Baptist Church, Kohima, Avilie Punyu while secretary to ANTA treasurer Victor Rutsa delivered the vote of thanks. (Page News Service)
