ANSTA on fair selection of Teachers Day Award

Dimapur, July 31: While stating that Teachers Day Awards have been instituted with the sole purpose of honouring teachers for their sacrificial and meritorious services being rendered to the family, the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) has said that only deserving teachers should be given this award.
In order to let the Award of Teachers Day be an honourable and respectable, the Association feels that only the most deserving should get it. Keeping in view, the Association hereby brought out 10 eligibility criteria to be taken into consideration while selecting teachers for the prestigious award.
Since the Teachers Day Award selection process for 2018 is underway, the Association reminded to all the recommending authorities to follow the said criteria as under so as to make a fair selection of the teachers for the award.
1) The heads such as DEO/SDEO/Principal/HM/AHM etc, should recommend only the name of the deserving teachers; (2) The academic performance of the student in particular subject of the teacher to be recommended for the award should be satisfactory for at least 3 consecutive years; (3) All the necessary formats relating to award should be filled-up by the concerned heads and not by the teachers concerned; (4) The award should be a surprised gift to the teacher concerned; (5) The teachers of the Nil results should not be recommended for it; (6) The Proxy/Substitute/Attached teachers should not be recommended; (7) Any teacher(s) found campaigning/lobbying in the any form whatsoever either politically/ through any other influence for his/her selection should be disqualified; (8) One has to serve for atleast 10 years on continuous service; (9) The teacher awardee should be a role model and a source of inspiration for others; and (10) Any teacher(s) being recommended without fulfilling the aforesaid criteria should be dropped/rejected from the Final State Level Selection.
