ANSTA, NGHSSEA threaten pen-down strike for non-receipt of salary

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 22: The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) and Nagaland Government Higher Secondary Schools Employee’s Association (NGHSSEA) have threatened to initiate pen-down strike in accordance with the principle of ‘No pay, no work’ if the State Government fails to release pending salaries of teachers and also provide written assurance that such delays will not recur in future.
In a letter to the Commissioner Secretary, School Education & SCERT, the two Associations said teachers of Nagaland have been facing persistent challenges due to regular delay in the disbursement of salaries.
“As educators, we are committed to going the extra mile in shaping the future of our students and serving our communities. However, this dedication is met with disappointment when our basic financial needs are not met on time”, it said.
Imploring the Department to rectify the situation by promptly releasing the pending salaries, the letter regretted that despite the request letter for the release of teachers’ salaries submitted by ANSTA on September 14, the salaries have not yet been released.
“Therefore, we urgently request your office to immediately disburse the pending salaries and provide written assurance that such delays will not recur in the future. Failure to do so will leave the teachers of Nagaland with no choice but to initiate a pen-down strike two weeks from the date of this letter, in accordance with the principle of ‘No pay, no work”, it cautioned.
