Another highest single-day spike of 138 cases pushes State tally to 1831


Dimapur, August 1: Nagaland touched yet another peak Saturday as it reported 138 new infections of novel coronavirus, including 109 from Dimapur alone, driving up the total tally of persons testing positive to 1831.
On Friday 127 cases were reported in the State.
Out of the 138 new cases, 109 were detected at Dimapur and 21 in Kohima. The district where the remaining 8 new cases were detected was not updated by the authorities.
The total active cases in the State are 1183, recoveries are 644 and there are 4 deaths. As per the severity of symptoms, 1,181 active cases are asymptomatic, 1 active case is mild and 1 active case is with oxygen.
The positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 hospitals and COVID-19 care centres. Active surveillance and contact tracing is also in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.
