Dimapur, July 29: Another COVID-19 related death was reported on Wednesday at Dimapur taking the COVID death toll in the State to 5. The deceased had tested COVID-19 positive by TruNat but her RT-PCR test result is awaited.
According to CMO Dimapur, Dr Tiasunup Pongener, the 44-years old female, reportedly a Government teacher, was taken to the Eden Hospital Wednesday morning, but the hospital refused admission without having a COVID-19 negative report.
The patient was asked to get her test done at PHC Chumukedima, where she tested positive in TruNat machine. The patient was asked to be brought to COVID-19 Hospital for admission, but she was not brought there “and later we came to know that she had died and her body is kept at her house in Aoyimti village,” the CMO said in a letter to the chairman of Aoyimti village council.
Meanwhile as a precautionary measure, the CMO suggested immediate burial of the dead body after sanitization and carrying out all formalities; any person who had come in contact with the deceased since 7 days back and also those who had handled the dead body today be immediately identified and be put into strict isolation/home quarantine.
The CMO said the direct contacts should self monitor his/her health for any signs of fever, cough, breathlessness, body ache, sore throat, etc for the next 7 days. He assured all assistance to the village council and sought cooperation. (Page News Service)
