
Kohima, November 28: Anil Sharma of Boulevard Snooker Club Dimapur today emerged as the champion of the 2nd Nagaland Snooker Ranking Tournament.
Organized by Cue Association of Nagaland (CAN) at Q Longue in Kohima, the tournament commenced on November 25 with 32 players from different clubs in Kohima and Dimapur.
Playing a very closely contested final match, Anil Sharma defeated defending champion Tongpangkokba Longchar of Atou Snooker Club, Kohima by 3-2 frames.
Winning the tournament, Sharma bagged Rs 20000 cash award while runners-up Longchar received Rs 10000.
Longchar also bagged the highest break-point award of Rs 6000.
Losing semi-finalists Kihevi Zhimo of Boulevard SC Dimapur and Medoletuo Khoubve of Club 147 Kohima got Rs 5000 each.
Gracing the valedictory function as the guest of honour, Commandant of 1st Assam Rifles Col Umesh Chandra Sati exhorted the gathering and also gave away the prizes to the winners.
He also handed over gift vouchers to the winners.
CAN president Yanger Temjen in his presidential address said that CAN is making effort to bring out their constitution in order to get registered in the State and ala the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India. He also tendered the words of gratitude. (Page News Service)
