Anemia screening camp held at Wokha village

Wokha September 15: The Department of Social Welfare along with Health and Family Welfare department Wokha organized an Anemia screening camp as part of Rashtriya Poshan Maah at Wokha village community hall on September 14.
Erenbeni Kikon, Sr. Supervisor, ICDS Wokha gave a brief overview about the celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Maah. She stated that the theme for this year is ‘Complimentary Feeding’ which focus on the five pillars related to the first thousand days of a child life, Diarrhoea and Anemia prevention, nutritional diet, sanitation and safe drinking water.
Dr. Zuben Kikon, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Wokha spoke on the causes of Anemia, its side effects and the different type of nutritional values of food. He also informed the participants to avail various health insurance benefits under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Myanlumo Lotha, CDPO Wokha while Yanphamo Tungoe, Wokha village Chairman thanked the department officials for conducting the camp. More than 97 villagers took screening test for Anemia and none of them turn out to be Anemic. Tests for blood sugar, malaria, HIV and patient examination were also conducted and free medicines distributed. The camp was attended by staffs of Health and Family Welfare department, Social Welfare and NRLM, DPRO and village council members.
