ANCSU threatens LS by-election boycott

Kohima, May 19: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has threatened to boycott the May 28 Lok Sabha bye-election in the State, if the Government do not resolve the land encroachment issue at Kohima Science College Jotsoma.
The ANCSU president Katho Awomi said repeated representations have been submitted to the State Government, but there has been no positive measures initiated till date, for which ANCSU has been compelled to take its own course of action. He said 42 ANCSU affiliated colleges are preparing to boycott the election if the Government does not address the demand of the student.
The union will submit a letter to the state governor seeking his positive intervention on the issue.
Students have been asking the State Government to look resolve the land encroachment problem in the college campus but it has been dragging for decades.
ANCSU has also demanded detachment of teachers with Government officers and MLAs and they be redeployed to their respective colleges and schools, adding that the union would initiate its own action against such teachers.
