ANCSU seeks timely disbursement of scholarships

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 22: Expressing concern over the delay in the disbursement of NEC Merit Scholarship for the academic years 2021-2022 & 2022-2023, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland for timely disbursement of all scholarship schemes under the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
In a representation to the Director, Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, ANCSU said there has been significant delay in the disbursement process of scholarship, causing distress among the student community. “We find it disheartening that the urgency of this matter has not been accorded the priority it deserves, creating uncertainty and anxiety among students who have been eagerly anticipating these funds to meet their academic needs over the past years”, it said.
Drawing attention to matters involving the Technical Department, the Union expressed concern over the negligence in verifying the applicants for the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) scholarship. “While other States have diligently undertaken the verification process, collaborating with the concerned Ministry and meeting the deadline of 26th February 2024, it is disconcerting that our Technical Department has yet to follow suit”, it said while cautioning that failure to complete the verification of AICTE scholarship applicants by the stipulated date the Union will hold the Technical Department accountable for any ensuing consequences.
