Dimapur, March 13: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has sought the immediate attention and intervention of the Chief Minister of Nagaland to ensure the sanction and release of the 4th instalment of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for ST students of Nagaland for the year 2016-17.
In a representation to the Chief Minister, the ANCSU said non sanctioning of the 4th instalment of the CSS PMS for ST students of Nagaland for the year 2016-17 amounting to Rs 7.71 crore (approx) by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs till date has gravely affected the student beneficiaries at large.
Due to the non sanction, 11,335 deserving ST student beneficiaries from 69 private and Governmental institutions have been deprived in receiving their due share for the year 2016-17. The delay in disbursement of scholarship has created further confusion among the students as a whole, it said.
Seeking the CM’s immediate intervention to make sure that the 11335 deserving beneficiaries are not deprived of their due rights, the association warned that it should not be held responsible for any untoward situation in future if the issue is not resolved. (Page News Service)
