ANCSU meets H&TE Minister


Dimapur, June 8: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) had a meeting with Minister for Higher & Technical Education at his official residence on June 7.
In the meeting, the minister highlighted the initiations of the department and Government in regard to the representation of ANCSU for acquiring additional seats for MBBS & BDS. The Minister assured of all possible initiations.
Taking strong exception in the past years where the department and Government failed to meet the needs of the aspiring MBBS & BDS students, ANCSU also apprised the Minister in acquiring seat under NEC. While assuring to take measures for the current session, the Minister assured for arranging additional seats in the next session, including asking special quota for Nagaland towards the requirement of MBBS & BDS seats.
The meeting also had discussions on the Kohima Science College land encroachment issue, PMS scholarship issue and other related matters concerning the students’ community.
Keeping in view of accountability and transparency, the Minister also highlighted some of the State Government initiatives in implementing biometric attendances for staffs in colleges by this year and students the following year, proper drinking water facilities, library enhancement, Encyclopaedia access to all subjects, sponsorship of 50 students by ALS for aspiring civil service candidates, etc.
