Fifteen affiliated colleges attended the meeting. The meeting was in regard to PMS payment for the year 2016-2017. The Dimapur based colleges and secondary institutions are the most affected institutions (11335 students, 69 institutions).
In a release, ANCSU said having learnt through print media on March 24 through the press release given by the finance department that Rs 7.71 lakhs have been released, the ANCSU is keeping its course of action in abeyance. Also in view of the upcoming semester examination, ANCSU after much deliberation said it resolved to let the colleges/institutions function smoothly.
ANCSU, however, said it shall be vigilant in this matter until justice is restored.
The ANCSU applauded the Chief Minister for the alternative arrangement made for the payment while anticipating the amount from the ministry. ANCSU also appealed the higher education department and respective banks to expedite the process in depositing the scholarship amount to the beneficiaries before the upcoming semester exam/pre university scheduled to be held from April 5 failing which it shall go to any course of action to any extend.
