DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) and Eastern Nagaland College Students Union (ENCSU) have appealed to the student community to consider the extraordinary situation and wait for the disbursement of scholarships as assured by the Department of Higher Education.
In a joint statement issued by ANCSU president, Vimeyiekho Vitso and ENCSU president, Serichum Sangtam, the Unions stated that on November 19 last, they had asked the Department of Higher Education and the state Government to disburse the second and final installment of Post Matric Scholarship ST 2019-2020 within 10 days. However, in a joint meeting held with Directorate of Higher Education on November 26 last, the Unions were apprised on the various unavoidable circumstances being faced by the Government functionaries due to global pandemic, which has affected the day-to-day functioning of Government offices.
While considering the inconveniences arising due to the prevailing situation, the two Unions reiterated its stand in regard to timely disbursement of scholarship.
The ANCSU and ENCSU informed the student community concerned that the Directorate of Higher Education has officially communicated to the two Unions on December 3 about the unavoidable delay in completing the requisite procedures for disbursing the scholarship to the student beneficiaries.
The Department has further assured the student community that under any circumstances the second and final installment for PMS ST 2019-2020 would be disbursed to the student beneficiaries before December 11, 2020.
In the event of failure to comply with the given assurance, the two Unions will hold the Department accountable for any unfavorable situation, the release stated.
