Dimapur, August 31: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has demanded an enquiry commission to probe into the fund utilization of Rs 3.71 crore at Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu under AICTE-NEQIP scheme within 30 days.
In a representation to the Chief Secretary, Nagaland, ANCSU president Vimeyiekho Vitso, vice president Inato Y Chisho and general secretary Imnameren N Jamir stated that RTI documents revealed that Rs 1.04 crore was received as first installment on April 4, 2014; Rs 1.22 crore as second installment on May 7, 2015 and Rs 1.44 crore as third installment on February 7, 2017. The total fund received was Rs 3,71,60,000 and total amount received as expensed fully.
Informing that the union visited the institute and witnessed the activities under AICTE-NEQIP scheme, ANCSU said it is thoroughly unsatisfied with the claimed development through the funds received.
The union informed that it had on February 16, 2020 asked the Minister concerned and the department for setting up of enquiry commission for the fund utilization, but expressed displeasure at the “lackadaisical response” of the department. “The union can never allow such unwelcoming progress in the department that decides the very future of the technical students,” it stated.
Seeking that the enquiry commission be set up within 30 days, the union also demanded that the commission should bring out the report within one month from the date of the setting up of the commission. (Page News Service)
