Kohima, November 2: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) is gearing up to hold its biennial College Meet from November 13 to 17 on the theme “Invigorating young Talents” with Dimapur Government College as the host.
Addressing a press conference, ANCSU vice president Benjong Longchar said that around 1500 delegates from 41 affiliated colleges under ANCSU are expected to attend the five-day collegiate meet which is being hosted by Dimapur Government College.
Besides the regular football for men, volleyball for women and the College Beat Contest, two new competitions – Badminton Mixed Doubles and Miss ANCSU have been included this time.
In this, he requested all the participating colleges to be thorough with the rules and regulations or contact the ANCSU officials for any clarification. The last date of submission of all collections and the entry forms is November 5, he said.
ANCSU general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso said that through the Miss ANCSU contest the union is hopeful of promoting the rich tradition and culture of the Nagas as the beauty pageant will be having traditional wear round besides the modern ethnic and final round.
They also informed that participating colleges will have to undergo screening to reach the finals of the beat contest and Miss ANCSU beauty pageant.
Vitso said that Additional DCP (Crime) Relo T Aye will grace the introductory session on November 13, PWD Minister Tongpang Ozukum for inaugural function on November 14, Advisor for Rural Development for beat contest while Advisor Zale Neikha will grace the valedictory function on November 16.
Meanwhile, Longchar while stating that the State Government has been organizing various competitive events for school students to groom the young talents, appealed that the Government should also organize such events at the college levels in order to bring out young talents of the State.
