ANATG to resume hunger strike

Dimapur, September 17: All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group- ANATG-2015 Batch today said that it has no other alternative but to peacefully protest by resuming its hunger strike.
In a letter to Commissioner & Secretary, the ANATG stated that their grievances and demands have been genuine since the day of appointment when the prices of every commodity has escalated but not their fixed pay salary.
Stating that they have been informed about Government’s inability to regularized their services and threatened with actions, if they take recourse to unlawful means to ventilate their grievances, the ANATG said the Government is not genuinely taking up the issue of solving their problem.
Citing Uma Devi Judgement passed by Supreme Court on April 10, 2006, the teachers group stated that the Government has regularized numerous adhoc/contract appointments and also made direct regular appointments without selection though prohibited by Uma Devi’s case.
“Strictly going by Uma Devi case, most of the appointments under any department would be illegal,” it said.
It said if the Department/Government genuinely cares to address their grievances, it can take special measure only for the case without referring to the OM dated 04.08.2008 or OM dated 11.08.2016.
It also expressed confidence that there would be no objection against their regularization, adding even ACAUT & PSAN which had filed the case did not raise any objection against their regularization.
The ANTAG also cited Court Judgement dated 3.8.208 stating that it did not say that regularization is not permissible irrespective of whether one has served for Three years or more and not as stated by your authority.
The teachers group alleged that the department, instead of finding a way to help them, is more concerned with finding ways and means to deny what is rightfully theirs.
The letter signed by Rüguotsolie, president and Pekato Zhimomi, general secretary, also took note of the injustices meted out to them by the department, as stated in our earlier representations whereby, the department granted PB-of Rs. 5200-20200 with grade pay of Rs. 2400 and PB- of Rs. 9300-34800 with grade pay of Rs. 4200 to Adhoc Primary and Graduate Teachers respectively who were appointed after 01.07.2017. However, despite the injustices their demand is nothing less than service regularization since all have cleared the Departmental-Suitability Test and as such they have now been conferred with the rights to claim for service regularization.
