Ambush on Assam Rifles

Tinsukia, July 1: A group of suspected NSCN (IM) cadres ambushed an Assam Rifles road opening team on the outskirts of Motongsa village, under Nampong Circle, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Saturday noon.
Sources in the Assam Rifles said, “An encounter took place between Assam Rifles and NSCN (IM). However, there were no casualties on either side.
It was a group of around 25 NSCN (IM) cadres, nearly 10km south of Miao. The one leading the group is yet to be identified.”
However, sources said the ambush failed because of the alertness of the security forces.
Last week, 3 Assam Rifles personnel were killed and 3 others injured in an ambush by the Khaplang faction (NSCN-K) near Aboi town in Nagaland’s Mon district.
