All India bank strike today

Dimapur, December 20: All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), the apex organisation of Bank Officers of the country representing a membership of over 3,20,000 Officers, is entering on 24 hours continuous strike from midnight of December 20 to midnight of December 21 on various issues relating to wage revision of Bank Officers, demanding to focus on core banking activities, proposed merger of Bank of Baroda, Vijaya Bank & Dena Bank, merger of Regional Rural Banks along with several other issues pertaining to serving officers and retirees. Reconciliation efforts initiated by the Central Labour Commissioner, yesterday at Delhi was abortive as the issue of fractured mandate which has been prolonging for 19 months could not be resolved due to the regressive attitude of IBA.
Meanwhile, about 10 lakh bankers in private and government banks will go on strike on December 26 protesting against the merger of Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank, and Vijaya Bank, the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) said on Thursday.
