Dimapur, June 14: The ceremonial programme of Governor Acharya’s award for promotion of skill development among Chang women was observed by Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS) on June 13 at CTS hall, Tuensang.
The award was given to Alemla Chang for her contribution towards the community by providing free training on tailoring, embroidery, beads making, stitching, weaving etc. to help the women in empowering themselves to be self-reliant and to be employed.
She has been giving free trainings since the year 2010 in different categories and preserving the traditional attires of the Chang community.
According to her, the motive behind it is to provide employment and contribute towards the society with greater returns.
The programme was chaired by Chubala, executive chairman CTS with Mohammed Ali Shihab IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang as the special guest.
The DC challenged the gathering to take the achievement of Alemla as a stepping stone for greater heights and stated that she deserves the honor.
Present at the event were Nungsanglemba, President Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), Chingmak Chang, President Chang Gazetted Officers’ Associaton (CGOA) and women representing each Chang village.
