Akum Imsong wins 5th Nagaland Hornbill Angling Festival


Kohima, December 5: Akum Imsong today emerged as winner of the 5th Nagaland Hornbill Angling Festival 2023 organised by Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Association Nagaland at Government Fish Farm, Thizama here.
Catching a total of 9.130 Kg fish during the two day event, Imsong bagged the first position and received a cash prize of Rs 1.2 lakh with trophy and citation.
Aseto with 7.655Kg haul of fish bagged the second position and received Rs 50,000 with trophy and citation.
Lanu Aier, Tali Akum and Yentsao as third, fourth and fifth position winners got Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively while other winners sixth Victor, seventh Vungrhonthung, eighth Yilobemo, ninth Toshimanen, 10th Neile Thuineo, 11th Tsungro Kithan, 12th Angulie, 13th Chumbemo Ngullie, 14th Mar Longkumer, 15th Nongthang also received angling kits.
In Junior category: first position went to Keneitoso (trophy and angling kit) while 2nd Flavin, 3rd Hyucozu, and 4th Neitseizo received the angling kit.
Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan graced the occasion as special guest and also gave away the awards along with Advisor for Fisheries & Aquatic Resources A. Pangjung Jamir.
President of All India Game Fishing Association (AIGFA) Santosh R. Kolwankar and Chairman EM, Anglers Association Nagaland, Ricky Ozukum extended greetings on the occasion.
Secretary of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Sotsula chaired the valedictory function while Director, Fisheries & AR Rongsennungba delivered the welcome address, Additional Director, Fisheries & AR Lotimenba gave the introduction and Joint Director Fisheries & AR Neitho-o Kuotsu tendered the vote of thanks and Associate Pastor of Shalom Bible Seminary Kevidzenyü Mere blessed the program with invocation.
