AK Mishra arrives at Nagaland

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 18: Naga people continue to be kept in the dark about the role of former Special Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) AK Mishra in the Indo-Naga political talks, even as some news channels have recently declared him as New Delhi’s new Interlocutor for the peace talks.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has neither confirmed nor denied the claim publicly.
Mishra himself chose to throw no light on the confusion after landing at Dimapur Airport on Saturday afternoon.
He refused to speak to the assembled journalists waiting for him at the airport.
Reliable sources informed that the former IB official is here to meet the Ato Kilonser of NSCN (IM), Th Muivah, who is the group’s chief negotiator for the Indo-Naga talks.
Mishra is no stranger to the political terrains of Nagaland as he had previously served as the Joint Director of IB, Kohima.
Muivah was reported to have moved out of Hebron on Saturday, and is currently staying at Police Complex, Chümoukedima.
For a while now, Muivah and his team have refused to deal with RN Ravi, the Centre’s designated Interlocutor, accusing the latter of trying to sabotage and hijack the peace talks.
Ravi has maintained that negotiations have been concluded on October 31, 2019.

Since this fracture in the relationship between Ravi and NSCN (IM), New Delhi has been employing Mishra to hold informal talks with the Naga group. (Page News Service)
