Dimapur, February 20: A programme for distribution Camp of Aids and Appliances under RVY & ADIP Scheme was held on February 18 at Town Council, Mon.
Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Ramdas Athavale and Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio were unable to attend the programme due to inclement weather conditions. Ramdas Athavale addressed the gathering through phone voice call during the occasion.
Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio whose speech was read out by OSD to CM, Mankhao said that Mon is one of the most strategically located districts of Nagaland with boundaries with Assam, Arunachal Pradesh & Myanmar. Mon also happen to be one of the most backward district of Nagaland and it’s indeed benefitting that the Social Empowerment Camp with an objective to provide physical aids and assisted living devices to Senior Citizens and differently abled people is being organized in Mon, he said. He also complemented DC Mon for taking the initiative and thanked the Government of India and ALIMCO for coming forward to support this noble venture by providing wheel chairs to the disabled, hearing aids and walking sticks to the blinds.
The Chief Minister congratulated Mon for being the first district to complete the assessment and distribution in all of Nagaland. He also congratulated the beneficiaries where due to unavoidable reasons one may need these aids and appliances but you should not consider yourself any less to anyone, he stated.
He also mentioned that State Government has notified the Rights of person with Disabilities Act 2016 last year and all Department have been directed to ensure implementation of the Act in letter and spirit.
Advisor for Fire & Emergency Services, SIRD, Relief & Rehabilitation Pohwang Konyak after delivering his speech, distributed the aids & assistive devices to the beneficiaries under RVY and ADIP schemes on behalf of the government.
Director Social Welfare, Merang Aier also spoke during the function. Welcome speech was spoken by Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan .K.
