Dimapur, August 18: The “Agro-based Rural Technology & Incubation Centre” at Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre was inaugurated by Kekhrievor Kevichusa, IPoS, Commissioner and Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Nagaland in presence of K Hokishe Assumi, Director of Industries & Commerce, Nagaland and Tali Longchar, Director (I/C), MSME-DI, Dimapur on August 17.
The Scheme “Agro-based Rural Technology & Incubation Centre” funded by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India started on 7th February 2019 to be completed within 18 months.
The main objective of the scheme is to generate employment opportunities through setting up of new self-employment ventures by bringing together the widely dispersed traditional artisans & unemployed youth. It also aims to provide continuous & sustainable employment to traditional & prospective artisans & rural/urban unemployed youths so as to arrest migration of rural youths to urban areas.
The NTTC under this project has conducted various types of training programs on the Agro-based Rural Technologies developed/manufactured at the centre and for exposure and to gain more knowledge, a group of trainers and artisans were also sent to Tamil Nadu for training on Banana Fibre Extraction and Handicraft making. The centre also participated in various exhibitions/trade fair where the products manufactured at NTTC were displayed, demonstrated and received positive feedback from the participants. Presently, the centre is getting various queries and demands for the purchase of the products.
There are currently 22 agro based rural technologies developed/manufactured under this scheme. The machinery includes Bamboo Shoot Slicer, Vegetable Crusher-cum- Slicer, Smokefree Meatdryer, Corn Sheller, Foddorizer, Chaff Cutter, Tapioca Slicer, Banana Fibre Extractor(Electrical Version), Banana Fiber Extractor (Petrol Version), Vegetable Dryer (Solar), Pineapple Fiber Extractor (Type 1 & 2), Arecanut Leaf Plate Making M/c, Arecanut Leaf Cup Making M/c, Motorised Paddy Thrasher, Portable Rice Mill, Fodder Cutting Machine, Foldable Solar Dryer, Solar Lawn Grass Trimmer and some Hand Tools for Hill Farming such as Seedling gun, Pole Puller & Fruit Plucking stick.
The Industries & Commerce Department, Govt. of Nagaland has set-up Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC), Dimapur in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India which was commissioned in the year 2006.
