Dimapur, May 22: The Department of Agriculture, senior officers team led by Joint Director Jacob Yanthan and Deputy Director, Burwati Longkumer along with the officials and staff visited to the districts Head quarters Tuensang today. The team was accompanied by the District Agricultural Officers Tuesang, along with village council Tuesang during the field visitation carry out today.
The purpose of the visit was to mobilize the extension personnel in motivating the farmers to cultivate all the potential areas under paddy and to extend farm areas into alternate farming systems for doubling income.
During the visitation the team also encouraged the farmers to increase seed replacement rate and grow more high yielding varieties and also to adopt integrated farming systems.
The team also created more awareness on the PM-KISAN to the benefitted farmers to utilize fund receive under the scheme only for Agriculture purposes besides appraising on the Agricultural safety measures to be followed during their field activities and mobility.
The team also apprised and created awareness on the impact of heavy rains, thunder squall and hailstorms leading to field crop damages, reoccurrences of FAW (Fall Army Worm) causing mild to severe infestation in standing crops.
The team toured the districts to get a firsthand knowledge by interacting with the district and sub divisional officers, functionaries and farmers with field visitation, to monitor a way forward during COVID 19 lockdown to agricultural issues and measures. (Page News Service)
