After J&K, Nagaland may be next, fears State Congress

Dimapur, August 6: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed apprehension that after the Centre revoked Article 370 from Jammu & Kashmir, it next target might be Nagaland.
“Tomorrow Nagaland may be divided into two UTs and Art.371(A) scrapped,” said NPCC president K Therie in a press release.
Therie said the Centre’s action was not a surprise as it was promise of BJP to remove Art 370 and 35(a). “We have foreseen the ideas of UCC and Hindutva. We have protested against these ideas and fought elections. However, the result was painful humiliation. We should not raise our voice and dishonour the mandate but the historic, undemocratic and catastrophic action of GOI cannot be forgiven,” the release said.
“Today it has happened to J&K which has been stripped of special Constitutional provisions, citing development and integration with the nation. We may be small in number and tiny in size but we do not approve of the unilateral decision. J&K people deserve to be heard and respected.”
The NPCC said if such an eventuality befalls Nagaland, the Congress whether weak or strong will oppose till the last drop of blood. “We hope the citizens will fight with us,” he added. (Page News Service)
