Advocacy campaign on women issues held

Dimapur, May 5: The Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), Longleng along with District Task Force (DTF) BBBP conducted an advocacy campaign on women issues and schemes on April 30 and May 1 at Tamlu and Namsang block, Longleng respectively.
EAC Bura Namsang, R. Daniel Angami, in his short exhortation, appreciated the MSK Longleng for organizing the program for the upliftment of women and girl child in the remote villages. He encouraged the women folks to be confident and stand for their rights and also to take such programs as an opportunity for the welfare of women. He further assured to render all possible assistance and support in any activities meant for the empowerment of women and girl child.
Phungla Phom, WWO MSK emphasized on issues and schemes related to women and girl child. She encouraged the women folks, especially the pregnant women and lactating mothers to avail the benefits meant for them.
A special session was also held to discuss and redress the problems and issues faced by the women and girl child in the society. The program was attended by the village council members, church leaders, Ashas, Anganwadi Workers besides a host of women and girl child.
Peren:
Sakhi- One Stop Centre conducted an awareness program in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) on Women Helpline (181), POCSO Act 2012 and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao on May 3 at the Lydia Centre, Peren Town.
The program was chaired by Grace, counselor (OSC). Through the ice breaking session she encouraged the attendees to memorize the emergency numbers which will come handy in day to day life.
Heiriateilei, District Welfare Officer (MSK) spoke on various schemes for women and girl child available in Peren district, POCSO Act 2012, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and emphasized on 10 legal Rights for women. While Peheilusile Haisobe, Caseworker (OSC) spoke on how to avail the services from Sakhi-One Stop Centre and Women Helpline (181). She also encouraged the women and girls to avail the benefits and stand for their rights. (Page News Service)
