Advisors hold meets with assigned Depts


Dimapur, April 11: The Department of Information & Public Relations had an introductory meeting with the Advisor I&PR, SCERT & Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung in the conference hall, Directorate of I&PR on Wednesday.
Talking about his background, the Advisor said he has done researches and have looked for information, reading and writing books and co-authoring. “Reading and writing is very important, it takes you forward, makes you interact, it launches you deep and far. There is no bound having to be informed and know,” he said.
Stressing on the importance of information, Wungtung said since the ancient civilisations, co-ordination and information have been the basic tool. All the departments are in need of our service because everyone knows how important it is to know and to get updated, we believe in a participative and inclusive governance, he mentioned.
He said it is important to be informed to be right, and at the same time right to right information is also very important. Our mind must be open and inquiring, we are all very captivated after the arrival of mobiles and laptops, we are very comfortable in our own rooms and we have become individualistic but at the same time community participation is very important, this department can do a lot of contributions to bring community to the game, he added.
“I believe in inclusiveness and participation, which to me is democracy. I&PR is the backbone or the launch pad to strengthen the spirit of democracy, I look for your innovative inputs and co-operation and also look forward to working with you all,” Wungtung further stated.
Director I&PR, Limawati Ao in his welcome address gave an overview of the Department. He highlighted on the structural set-up of the Directorate as well as the district offices, the role and activities of the Department and also the changes in the priorities of the department during the last several decades since the inception of the Department.
Additional Director I&PR, Z. Tokishe Sema chaired the programme while Commissioner & Secretary I&PR, Lithrongla G. Chishi gave the concluding remark.
I&FC Dept:
Dimapur, April 11: Advisor, Irrigation & Flood Control, Namri Nchang visited the Chief Engineer Office, Irrigation & Flood Control on Wednesday. Commissioner & Secretary, N. Hushili Sema chaired the function.
In her opening remarks she congratulated the Advisor and added that under his leadership the department will attain and help improve the various activities. She urged all the staff to work hard in order to achieve the demand and the needs of the people and urge those persons in the district to be in the station.
The Advisor in his speech informed that the staff should work extra mile in order to bring development and the needs of the people. He advised them to be punctual and disciplined and added that nothing can supplement hard work. He added that politicians may come and go but the officials in the Department are the backbone so he asked all the officials to bring suggestion for the improvement of the department. He maintained that the intensity of Irrigation expresses man’s dynamic attempts to overcome the environmental limitation in the transformation of many of the barren areas in to agriculture areas
Chief Engineer, IFC, Er. S. Kughato Sema in his speech mentioned that with the coming of the new Government and Advisor the department is looking forward to finished the pending projects and bring more development. He informed that every year target is fixed to create additional potential but lack of funds is the factor for not achieving the plan. He said that the department has been taking up minor irrigation schemes through gravity such that incentive is created to harness agricultural inputs annually. He maintained with a view to improve the state economy and the living standard of the people optimum development of agriculture through effective utilisation of its abundant water may be imperative.
Through power presentation the activities of the department was presented by SDO, IFC, Er. Wapangnaro Imchen while a presentation on national hydrology project was given by EE, IFC, Er. Sobu Angami.
Arts & Culture:
Advisor for Art & Culture and Tourism, Khehovi Yepthomi held a meeting with all the HoOs of Suruhuto sub-division at SDO(C) Office Suruhuto on April 11.
In the meeting, the Advisor sought cooperation from all the department officers and asked all to collectively work together to bring change in Suruhuto area. He said that as a former Government servant he knows the problems faced by offices and that he is ever ready to help in his capacity. The Advisor also said that all the Government servants posted at Suruhuto should be at station for the welfare of all.
A grievances cell had been set up with Kavito as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) by the Advisor.
In the meeting it was decided that a monthly coordination meeting of Suruhuto sub- division will be held. The meeting was attended by SDO(C) Suruhuto, Departmental HoOs of Suruhuto-sub division and DBs.
