
Kohima, March 12: Advisor for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development R. Khing yesterday inaugurated the annexe building of Government High School Chunlikha, Tseminyu district funded under HUDCO loan by Department of School Education, Nagaland.
Speaking as the special guest of the event, Khing reminded the gathering on the genesis of the school and its founders; and the invaluable contributions of the school to the community having produced many important personalities, both government officials as well as NGO leaders who are important members of the community and society today.
The Advisor encouraged students and parents alike to fully avail and utilize the best facilities provided by the government for development of human resources. He also called upon the teachers to be sincere in their duties being moulders of human beings and builders of future leaders.
He also stressed on the significance of Chunlikha being the centre of the Northern Rengmas.
President Kithagha Public Organization Khinyi Woch shared a brief history of GHS Chunlikha as well as presented a memorandum to the government on the need for upgradation of the oldest school in the Northern Rengma area established in 1961 to Higher Secondary School (Science Stream) on behalf of the community.
President Rengma Hoho Pollem Tep delivered greetings while Additional Director, School Education I Temjen Ao spoke on behalf of the Department and Vilini Wotsa gave the Technical Report of the construction while also appreciating the Contractor for the good workmanship and timely completion of the 2-storey RCC building with 11-rooms including 4 toilets, administrative block, laboratory, library and disabled friendly ramp.
The function was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi and was attended by a host of officials from the School Education, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Departments, Rengma Hoho and Rengma Students’ Union apart from organizations, village councils and members from Kithagha Range (Nsunyu, Chunlikha and Likhwenchu) led by the Kithagha Public Organization and neighbouring villages from Chunlikha Block.
The dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev. Khankhu Magh while the welcome address was delivered by OSD to Chief Minister T. Semy and special presentations by students of Jireh School, Chunlikha and Chunlikha Cultural Club. Headmaster, GHS Chunlikha Asao Seb delivered the words of gratitude while the Pastor of Kithagha Union Baptist Church, Haiwachu Magh said the closing prayer followed by lunch at the school premises.
