Kohima, June 27: With an intention to resolve the ongoing imbroglio on regularization of services of All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) 2015 batch, the Government of Nagaland today constituted a Cabinet Committee to hold deliberations with the agitating adhoc teachers.
Sources informed that the Cabinet Committee, headed by Minister for PWD, Tongpang Ozukum, was constituted in today’s Cabinet meeting.
Sources also said that the Cabinet Committee has convened a meeting with officials of ANATG-2015 batch in the official residence of Minister Ozukum at 7:30 a.m., in the presence of Department officials.
Meanwhile, ANATG – 2015 officials informed that the 1166 adhoc teachers had suspended their proposed hunger strike as part of the ongoing 8 days of agitation outside Directorate of School Education today following the assurance of the Directorate of School Education made during the closed door meeting yesterday that the Department will file an Interlocutory Application (IA) with the Court for the modification of Interim Order to favour the ANATG-2015 Batch while also proposing for the Grant of Scale pay.
In a representation to the Principal Director of School Education, Smita Sarangi, the ANATG-2015 batch said that after receiving a positive response from the Department to file an IA, they had an emergency consultative meeting with all Aggrieved Adhoc Teachers and collectively resolved to suspend the proposed indefinite hunger strike starting today.
They said the ANATG 2015 batch will continue to exercise the democratic act of resentment until the Court pronounces the final verdict while also cautioning that if the pursuance of the Interlocutor Application is delayed on any ignorant grounds by the pursuing authority, the ANATG-20l5 Batch would again resume the suspended indefinite hunger strike.
They said that at this crucial juncture while the ANATG-2015 batch has been seeking the sole demand for regularization of their service, the proposal of granting of scale pay to them by the Department and the Government is not a logical move. Therefore, ANATG rejected the offer of Scale pay before regularization.
The ANATG 2015 batch also demanded that the Cabinet convenes an emergency Cabinet meeting and review/reconsider the Agenda-42, which was deferred on November 13, 2017 and immediately approve their genuine aggrieved matter for service regularization, failing which they would again resume the suspended indefinite hunger strike.
Meanwhile, ANATG 2015 batch spokesperson Bendang Ozukum said that they would be attending tomorrow’s meeting with Cabinet Committee, headed by Minister Tongpang, but they would be firm on the sole demand of immediate regularization of their service. “We will not settle with anything less than that because our agitation has already entered into the 8th day and we will still continue till our demand is fulfilled,” he affirmed.
