Dimapur, January 27: The Angami Catholic Youth Association, St. Francis de Sales ( ACYA SFS ) celebrated its 38th Youth Day at the campus of Savio KG School here on Sunday in Kohima.
Unfurling the ACYA flag, Daniel Belho, Keneilhounyii Daniel Belho, Advisor, ACYA SFS exhorted the gathering and extended his greetings on the occasion .
Stating that the history of Catholic Church began with Jesus Christ, Belho urged the youth parishioners to get back to the roots of the Church and learn more about its history and doctrines.
It is fortunate of being Catholics because the faithful recognise and venerate Mother Mary, the mother of Christ with great reverence and respect inspite of many misconceptions by others, he said .
Belho also reminded the congregation that in any Catholic church, every parishioner is treated with equal dignity.
He advised the youth parishioners to make use of their time to learn more about Catholic teachings in order to share it’s beliefs with others.
Stressing on the importance of active involvement in the church, the advisor asked the young believers to contribute their services to their parish .
While referring to the work and different activities of ACYA, Belho began to encourage the youth leaders and assured that the result of every struggle in the beginning is always sweet in the end. He cited an example of how 18,00,255 lakhs of honey bees could fly many miles and face four to five million of other bees to produce about 400.50 grams of honey .
Asking the youth to act as a candle that light up another candle, Belho further called upon them to be the lights of their church.
Earlier, a minute- silence was observed for God’s abundance grace for the past years .
Meanwhile, Rev. Richard Fernandes, Spiritual Advisor, ACYA SFS pronounced the invocation while Kekhriengunuo Teresa read from the Scripture .
ACYA Gen Rosemary Kense delivered the annual report; Rev. Fr. Peter Pithungo said the benediction and Seyiekhrielie Carlus chaired the function .
Special numbers were presented by former ACYA SFS, Executive, Elizabeth Sorhie and Bernadette Dziivichii while ACWA SFS enthralled the gathering with a dance performance .
A short felicitation program was held soon wherein outgoing president Seyiekhrielie Carlus handed over the Constitution to the new ACYA SFS President, Paul Belho .
The new ACYA SFS office bearers for the tenure 2019 – 20 were also introduced.
Meanwhile, Mary Meyase was conferred with “Youth of the Year Award “during the felicitation.
Prior to the Youth Day program , the Eucharistic celebration was held at SFS parish while fellowship meal and an evening extravaganza were also organised later .
