
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who has been in the headlines during the COVID-9 lockdown because of his help towards migrant workers, has come up with another charitable endeavour that allows students coming from families whose annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh to apply for a scholarship.
The Ramaiya Vashtavaiya actor has announced that he will be offering scholarships to the underprivileged students in various courses, namely Medicine, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Fashion, Journalism and Business Studies, among others.
“The expenses ~ course fees, hostel accommodation and food ~ everything will be taken care of by us.” said the actor in his statement regarding the scholarship.
He also added that it his mother Professor Saroj Sood who taught in Punjab free of cost and wanted him to take it further.
As per reports, Sonu Sood has tied up with different universities across India for the undertaking of the same.
Earlier on Teacher’s Day, Sonu Sood was seen dedicating a post for his mother which said “I am walking on the path shown by you, Mother. The destination is far away but will surely be found. Happy Teachers’ Day my teacher…Prof. Saroj Sood.”
In May 2020, during the nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sood helped thousands of stranded Indian migrant workers to reach their homes by arranging buses, special trains and chartered flights for them.
In July 2020, he had arranged a chartered flight to bring home over 1,500 Indian students stranded in Kyrgyzstan, flying them from Bishkek to Varanasi.
The compassion that he showed towards the fellow Indians during the pandemic was praised by the whole country and he was hailed as a real-life hero of India.
