DIMAPUR, JUNE 7: The NFHRCC has appealed to the Government of Nagaland, particularly Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Ministers Y Patton and TR Zeliang, to put into action the Nagaland Assembly Resolution of September 22, 2022 by way of taking up the foothills project under NEC during the financial year 2023-24.
Inaction would amount to betrayal of the Naga people, it said.
In a press release issued by its convenor, Supu Jamir, co-convenor, Hokiye Yepthomi, general secretary, W Lemba Chang and assistant general secretary, Chenithung Humtsoe, the NFHRCC stated that in a democratic government, the Legislative Assembly is the highest platform to legislate or to pass resolution for the people of the State. Therefore the decision made in the Legislative Assembly is final and binding and the same cannot be washed away, it added.
The NFHRCC appreciated the wisdom and concern of the then Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio for passing hallowed Assembly resolution on September 22, 2022, whereby, the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly unanimously resolved to take-up the Foothills project under NEC having fully understood the importance of the Foothills road and having fully aware, the pathetic condition of the Naga public.
It said the same Chief Minister who had passed the Assembly resolution on September 22, 2022 has once again re-elected as 5th time Chief Minister of Nagaland, which clearly manifests his tall leadership.
