9th Nagaland Veteran Inter District Football Championship begins

Kohima, May 5: Altogether six District Veteran Football Associations – Mokokchung, Dimapur, Wokha Phek, Mon, and Kohima are participating in the 9th Nagaland Veteran Inter District Football Championship.
Organised by Nagaland Veteran Football Association (NFVA) and hosted by Kohima District Veteran Football Association the tournament commenced today at the Astro-turf Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.
Nagaland Director General of Police, T J Longkumer in his inaugural address lauded the veteran footballers for maintaining their fitness levels and dedication of the game.
Further, acknowledging the state government for creating an astro-turf football ground, the DGP was optimistic that it would be a huge boost for the young footballers in the State.
President of NVFA, DGP (retd) K Kire in his presidential address NVFA President K Kire (Rtd. DGP) in his presidential address said the primary objective of the association was to remain fit and to look after one’s health. He asked the players to give their best in true sportsmanship during the five-day long tournament. He also informed that half of the districts could not make it for the 9th due to inconveniences.
Advisor for Rural Development and president KDVFA Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire delivered the welcome address.
The championship being held on both league and knock out format will conclude on May 10.
Compered by Rüvuotuonuo Ruth Vizo the inaugural function commenced with prayer by Rev Ketou Theünuo, Pastor of Cross Wonder Church Kohima while DGP Band enthralled the gathering with special music.

2. Kohima vs Mon at 2:30 p.m.
